Grow, Play, Thrive – The Pelham Way

Parks & Rec – Oh My!

Did you know that your mental, emotional, and physical health is directly tied to access to parks and recreation? It’s true — safe, inviting spaces for activity can lower stress, improve blood pressure, and boost overall mental well-being. And the benefits don’t stop there.

Communities that invest in parks see real, measurable improvements in public health. People exercise more, families connect more, and neighborhoods thrive. Parks aren’t just green space — they’re a powerful indicator of a community’s quality of life. They attract young families, draw in businesses, and support a vibrant local economy.

Pelham’s Parks and Rec has made some exciting strides recently, and that momentum must continue. Last year alone, hundreds of families enrolled their kids in local sports. That’s a win — and a call to do more.

As a long-time baseball family, we’ve spent the last 15 years traveling across the region for tournaments. And you know what? The cities we visited back then now have stunning, state-of-the-art facilities. Meanwhile, our own parks have seen minimal improvement. Other cities used those tournaments as launch pads for growth. Pelham? We underfunded our potential.

So I ask again — Why not Pelham?

We have the talent. We have the families. We have the heart. Now let’s match it with the investment. Let’s build facilities that bring families together, invite tournaments, and make Pelham a destination — not just a stop along the way.

Our future is built on community — where we live, work, play, spend, and grow. Parks play a key role in creating safer neighborhoods, thriving small businesses, and stronger connections. The attention we give to Parks and Rec will ripple through every corner of our city.

Let’s invest where it matters. Let’s bring Pelham up to par — and beyond.

Join me in championing this vision.
